Unity in Diversity
2022 was the year my world finally knit itself together: the long-awaited family reunion, a promising work trajectory, and a community that would catch me, no matter which way I fell.
Then, the Woman Life Freedom uprising began. Our diaspora existence split open. Overnight, the solidarity of our circle, the joy we had built together, became the fuel for our resistance. The map of our friendship was redrawn in the ink of protest. Our meeting places transformed from dancing at Pamenar to marching in weekly demonstrations; our communion was now measured in the decibels of our unified chants.
This piece is built from the sounds of that fractured year, reflecting the intense global shift. Every sound is a recording from that time, a year when my heart held two homelands at once: one of cherished connection, the other of fierce, aching love.
