7 Sins / 7 Scenes
For Norooz (نوروز), 7 Sins / 7 Scenes reflects on what we choose to place on the Haft-Seen (هفت سین) table and what those choices represent. The work invites us to acknowledge and sit with internal presences—Deev (دیو)—alongside spring’s renewal and beauty. What we place on the table may become an antidote (پادزهر): a gesture toward the presence of a particular Deev.
From the banks of the old, crumbling land
Came two with a longing they couldn’t quite understand
Through years they have wandered, through current and tide
Still chasing the rumours of GeeseMoon - oh, that elusive guide!
Is it something to find? Is it somewhere to be?
Is it hiding beyond some concrete sea?
Could it be at Birdhouse, where the gutter drinks rain,
where the river hums through the city's cold vein?
O you at the threshold, come, listen, and stay,
Perhaps you have searched for such something one day
Ghamar shouldn’t say more, it might ruin the quest
Come in through the door.
Together
We’ll figure out the rest
Performed at Boombox.

These Islands Green is an improvisation-based project rooted in playfulness, collective exploration, and being fully present with one another. Embracing a multiplicity of voices, the ensemble seeks to cultivate a sense of community in which members feel empowered to take risks, challenge the status quo, and embrace the unexpected.
The Goh Ensemble is an improvisational duo of Jack Blanco on drums and Samira Banihashemi on modular synthesizer.
Microphones on the drum kit feed audio directly into the synthesizer, allowing the live drumming to modulate its parameters. The drummer responds to the resulting electronic textures, and each response changes what the synthesizer produces. This continuous feedback loop builds a dense, evolving improvisation, with both musicians moving fluidly between leading and following.
